A business wide effort has helped launch a wealth of rich learning materials positioning our business to be an industry leader in water education.
In June 2022, the Community Partnerships and Education team began working with the Digital Transformation team to update The Well website as part of our ongoing educational program.
The new website is part of a wider program of works helping to increase the water literacy of South Australians, developing their understanding of water and natural resources management. The program provides a deep understanding of water systems across South Australia and the work we do with a focus on both school and communities.
The new site – The Well - completed last week, enables our education team to make meaningful connections with community, educators, and young people to ensure our education programs meet our customer needs along with the Australian Curriculum.
Education Specialist Jade Cornish said, ‘It has been a huge team effort to redesign The Well site, and we're excited to share our accessible resources with teachers, students, and community members around SA'.
A crucial step in re-launching the website was increasing our credibility and trust as water subject matter experts among other educators. The CX team worked with teachers across South Australia to test the new site, gaining their feedback on what worked and didn’t, and resources they’d like to see to help prepare their students for class.
One teacher commented:
'In my work, I go through these kinds of websites a lot. This is one of the best ones I’ve ever come across.'
If that high praise is anything to go by, The Well is on track to enable us to create trusted relationships with educators, customers and the community to understand our services, operations, commitments, and achievements and bring them along on the journey with us.
The website provides a comprehensive and growing range of accessible multimedia educational resources that all South Australians can access whenever they wish, to learn more about the water industry. It also includes a list of tours, incursions and excursions available to teachers, students and community members to get a first-hand look at what we do.
Manager Community Partnerships and Education Sally Denton said The Well supports key initiatives such as Purified Recycled Water and a Water Resilient Future, providing regular information updates, resources and tours the community can use.
‘We want this website to play a key role in the community understanding the importance of our infrastructure, water and wastewater treatment, the state’s water and natural resources,’ Sally said.
‘Education will help provide the community with an understanding of how they play a part in protecting and sustaining our water sources for the future of our water security and develop a more water literate community.’
Now the re-launched website is live, we need your help.
If you know a teacher or community member interested in what we do, let them know about our education program and website The Well to help this important work go further – word of mouth goes a long way. Plus, if you have kids at school (at any year level) we are happy to connect with their schools and would love your involvement too, and if you have resources that may be relevant for us to add to our collection, get in touch with the Education team.
